Gente de Mar

This project, led by Dr Oliver Antczak and Dr Fidel Rodríguez Velásquez and supported by a team of practitioners and experts from the region, this project is dedicated to transdisciplinary research into the past and present of the islands of the Southeastern Caribbean, particularly Margarita, Coche, and Cubagua, within a Caribbean, Atlantic, and global context. The project has run several research-focused cultural activities since 2020, including art contests for youth celebrating Indigenous identities in the region on the islands of Margarita, Trinidad and Bonaire. Additionally, it is a space that hosts writing on topics related to the identities, heritage and history of the region.
